Time out in Stockholm

Model of the Vasa ship that sank in Stockholm harbor
in 1628 and was salvaged in 1961.

98% of the wood used to rebuild the
Vasa ship is original.  It was a giant
jigsaw puzzle to reconstruct.

                                                                                           

We went to Stockholm to meet Cheryl and Doug who
had been on a cruise.  We met them at their ship.

Grandma Oscarson was born and raised (along with
12 siblings).  The metal stove was not there, but this is the fireplace
 where Great Grandma Ålerlind cooked,
with the oven on the back wall.
This also heated the house.

We walked down to the lake that was 300 meters
from the house to see where Great Grandma Åkerlind
did her laundry.

Back in Göteborg, we spent Saturday at Marstrand,
an island with a fortress.  We had to take a short
ferry ride over to the island.

Finished off the day with a yummy ice cream.  We had
a great visit with Cheryl and Doug and now
are looking forward to more company next week.
