WARM AND COZY??????

The week between Christmas and New Year's we spent at the cabin. Since there was lots of new and untouched snow, John wanted to make an igloo according to the instructions of a colleague. No, not because that is what we may have to resort to
living in while we are in Russia, but for some of his young men to sleep in when they are up there later in the month!

Lovely untouched snow.

We snow-blowed an area for the cars to drive in, but left a large area untouched. Then John stomped it down by going over and over it with cross-country skis.

Then he used the services of Megan and Jalie, having them roll over and over the stomped down.

A couple of days later he measured off and cut blocks of snow with the saw.

The next pictures will show the progress of the igloo being erected...this is all a fine science of making the blocks fit together and arranging them to meet at the top.

Then it was done!

Kalie and Brook inside the igloo.

It snowed that night, so all the holes got filled in. He's taking some boys up on Saturday to show them how to make another one and then the next week-end some brave ones will try them out!!

Very nice! I can't imagine sleeping in that, but it looks very fun!
